Most of the time when a person “joins a church” or “give his/her life to Christ, they are given a “summary” of what their life with Christ will be like. This summary sounds something like this, “when you give your life to Christ, everything will be all right and everything will work out fine.” NOT SO. The truth is, when you give your life to Christ, it comes with suffering that seems unfair, it comes with persecution and rejection, it comes with sacrifice and isolation, it comes with trials, troubles, and tribulations. The good news in all this is that the assurance policy is Christ Jesus and His finished work on the cross.
Truth - the things in your life may very well stay the same. Your physical address may stay the same, your job, marriage, children, may all remain the same, but the main component that will change or that should change is the knowledge of the HELP that is available to you.
You must understand a few things,
1. You are in a war,
2. You have been rescued from the hands of the enemy,
3. You are now a soldier in the army of the Lord, for real
4. You are mandated to help rescue someone else.
In this lesson, we are going to walk through the full process from conception to birth of a soldier in the army of the Lord.
READ - Ezekiel 16, Isaiah 49
The story of the ugly duckling
Rejection, confusion, isolation, all these emotions attacked the little duckling, but that did not change the fact that she was a swan.
Because no one else knew who she was and what was her purpose, they rejected her and made her feel worthless.
She suffered because she had never seen a picture of her true self. Genesis 1:28, John 4:23
She had never seen her REAL family John – Baptism of Jesus
God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit is our complete original legitimate family.
The ugly duckling was comparing herself to someone else who was nowhere in her league.
Not necessarily inferior but just not on the same level
We look at people that “look privileged and we compare ourselves and our families to that picture.
So this generation has been taught that they are beautiful no matter what, they are entitled to a “better” life but their inner man is ugly and they can’t see it.
Pride and entitlement have set in, rebellion and compromise rule their heart and mind.
The past generation before me got stuck in the pond, staring at themselves and went no further.
They hold on to the abuse hurt and rejection of their childhood and then set up house at the end of the pond.
My generation never wants the generation that is our offspring to hurt, or anyone hurting them so we try to give them everything to make them happy and never ever be sad and in that process, we spoil them.
The church is like us, a mother that has never healed from her hurt so, in her fear, she fights to protect her babies from any hurt harm or danger. The church shies away from correction and all they preach is love, but love comes with correction and chastisement. Some of us never want to be corrected.
Scriptures:-Open rebuke is better than love concealed
The Lord also chastens those whom He loves
Spare the rod and spoil the child
Beat him betimes with a rod and you will not kill him, but deliver his soul from hell
The mother swan – God the Father
The swanlings – Siblings/ Jesus the Son
The love they showed – The Holy Spirit
Now that you have found your way…how do you live as a swan.
When I joined the church I was thrown into the workforce of “winning souls to Christ”
Nobody told me I had to work on being healed, “work out your soul salvation with fear and trembling.”
So I went in the power of my flesh and my own strength, determined to “win souls to Christ.”
Needless to say, I burnt out quickly.
When I finally sat down at the feet of Jesus and rested, the Holy spirit started healing, releasing and setting me free.
Only after deliverance and healing took place was I able to stand and allow the Holy Spirit and the power of God to be made manifest in and through my life.
The following is structured to take you from conception to birth and the walk you through the life as a believer in the family and a soldier in the army of the Lord.
THE PROCLAMATION OF THE PROPHET – YOUR EAR GATE
61:1-2 Isaiah 61 King James Version (KJV)
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Explanation: - Romans 10 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard, and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Therefore, here you sit today in the proclamation of the word of God in Isaiah 61:1-2
Isaiah 61:3 (a) - THE TRADE-OFF – DO YOUR PART
To preserve those who mourn in Zion, to give them:-
“BEAUTY FOR ASHES”
“THE OIL OF JOY FOR MOURNING
“THE GARMENT OF PRAISE FOR THE SPIRIT OF HEAVINESS”
The anointing of joy will he give you in place of your mourning
You will be clothed with praise to replace the spirit of heaviness.
· Ashes is the final stage of burning when something has been reduced down to nothing, it is no longer useful or valuable.
· Mourning is done when something dies.
· Spirit of heaviness is when you are depressed and sad
NAME CHANGE – ONLY GOD CAN DO IT
Isaiah 3 (b)
Your willingness to trade off or give up your “ashes” for God’s beauty will result in:-
Your name being changed by God
“That they may be called (a) TREES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
(b) THE PLANTING OF LORD
Isaiah 61:3 (b)
ALL FOR GOD’S GLORY – KEEP YOUR MOTIVES PURE
“THAT GOD MAY BE GLORIFIED”
When you have heard the word from the Lord and receive it with humility, when you have agreed to surrender your will and allow God to heal you, then you are in the lineup to move forward in the army of the Lord.
Isaiah 61:4 – YOU HAVE AN ASSIGNMENT
1. They shall build the old ruins,
2. They shall raise up the former desolations
3. They shall repair the waste cities (which are) the desolations of many generations
GO TO WORK!
Isaiah 64:5& 6 – RESULT OF YOUR WORK
1. Strangers shall stand and feed your flock
2. Foreigners will be your plowmen and vinedressers
3. You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles (6b)
4. You shall boast in your glory (6b)
Isaiah 61:6 - REPUTATION WILL FOLLOW YOU
1. You shall be named the Priests of the Lord
2. Men shall call you the Ministers of our God
Isaiah 61: 7 – RENEWAL AND REPLACEMENT
1. For your shame, you shall have double
2. For confusion, they shall rejoice in their portion
3. In their land, they shall possess double
4. Everlasting joy shall be unto them
Isaiah 61:8 - RECOMPENCE/REWARD
For I the Lord, love justice, I hate robbery in the burnt offering; and I will faithfully give them their recompense and make an everlasting covenant with them.
Isaiah 61:9 – LEGACY OF RECOGNITION
Their descendants shall be known among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples. All who see them shall acknowledge them because they are the descendants whom the Lord has blessed.
Isaiah 61:10 – REJOICE IN THE LORD
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garment of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorn herself with her jewels.
Isaiah 61:11 – RIGHTEOUSNESS AND PRAISE
For as the earth brings forth her buds, and as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
When you have entered into the relationship there is a process to progress, growth, and longevity.
PROCESS leads to WORK.
